Events

Friends of Hika Bay hosts a handful of events throughout the year that can be found on the LNRP event calendar here. Below are a few of our annual events that are generally hosted each year.

September 18th, 2025

Join us on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, from 6:30–8:30 PM at the Dairyland Park Pavilion in Cleveland for a community Meet & Greet focused on the revitalization of Friends of Hika Bay!

Over time, the group has become less active—but we're ready to change that, and we need your voice to help shape the future. The Hika Bay watershed has unique environmental needs—and this is your chance to get involved.

Enjoy refreshments, brief presentations, and the chance to connect with neighbors who care about our land and water. We’re looking to grow our board, volunteer base, and impact—and we can’t do it without you.

Lakeshore Water Summit

Each year, Friends of Hika Bay engages interns through the Lakeshore Water Institute to collect water samples and analyze the data. The data stories are presented at the annual Lakeshore Water Summit. The Lakeshore Water Institute, a collaborative partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus, Friends of Hika Bay, and the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership.

Annual Barn Dance

In 2009 we held our first old-fashioned barn dance on an historic, working dairy farm to celebrate Wisconsin's farmers, working lands, and rural heritage. Since then the barn dance has become an annual event each September and has grown to include a traditional “Chautauqua” to provide a venue to advance the dialogue of issues we all care about.

Projects

There are currently four active projects that Friends of Hika Bay is working on in partnership with or solely to help benefit the community and mission of our organization. Each project is a building block to help us better the runoff water making its way from farmland to Lake Michigan. Projects

Centerville Creek + Hika Park

The Centerville Creek Restoration Project was completed through the development of a number of key partnerships that included the Village of Cleveland, the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP), UW-Madison, and UW-Manitowoc.

Five Watershed Creek Monitoring

A partnership among the Friends of Hika-Bay, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Manitowoc Campus formed the Lakeshore Water Institute, developed an active watershed monitoring internship program, and hosts the annual Lakeshore Water Summit.
